Weekly Update #21 - Heatwave In Highams Park

This week’s update comes from a swelteringly hot Highams Park - hotter than the Costa Brava according to Apple Weather. Thankfully we’re open and providing all you lovely people with refreshing beverages.

Long time followers know that we used to have the weekly updates on a Friday, but with the pub now open that might change around a bit, maybe moving to a Monday going forward.

We’ve recently been using Real Ale Finder to keep our beer list up to date and the great thing about this is that everyone has access to the live Beer Board whenever they want RIGHT HERE

Once again a massive thank you to everyone who’s popped in over the past few weeks, word is definitely spreading about our opening and we’re just about managing to cope without having to turn too many people away. I never expected I’d be worried about having TOO many people at the pub, but I am incredibly grateful of that in these strange times.

There’s not much else interesting to report on at the moment, we’re just planning to keep the ship steadied and wait and see what the future holds. It seems pretty redundant making too many specific plans for the near future as things can change at any minute.

Finally, we’ve got some great beers on cask this week. A special mention has to go to the Redemption Urban Dusk, a premium bitter with lovely chocolatey notes. It does seem like an unusual choice given the weather, but I had a sample earlier and it’s tasting absolutely delicious!

On Tap from Weds 12th August

SIGNATURE - ROADIE SESSION IPA(4.3%)

A session IPA that uses Super Pale malt along with Oats and Wheat to set the stage for the internationally loved Citra hops to steal the show. The beer is a mega crisp, hugely refreshing delight with bags of citrus notes along with hints of grapefruit, lime and passion fruit.

REDEMPTION - URBAN DUSK PREMIUM BITTER (4.5%)

Chestnut coloured premium bitter with malts providing coffee aromas and some hazelnut and caramel on the palate, while Bramling Cross hops offer some dark fruit flavours. Citrus notes and an earthy bitterness lasts into the finish.

FIVE POINTS - JUPA IPA (5.5%)

A juicy pale ale with US hops Simcoe in the boil and dry-hopped with Citra and Mosaic, this beer has bold tropical fruit flavours of pineapple and mango, wheat and oats for a full body, and low bitterness for a refreshing taste.

SILLY MOO - COWFOLD MEDIUM CIDER (5%)

Silly Moo is an unusually civilised farmhouse cider, made on Trenchmore farm by Rachel and Andrew. It is a marriage of East coast and West Country cider styles as it blends fully fermented cider with more apple juice to balance.

SEACIDER - BLUEBERRY CIDER (4%)

Made with the pure juice of fresh blueberries and blended with SeaCider Medium, this cider is refreshing and packed with flavour.

ROSS ON WYE - 2018 MICHELIN + DABINETT CIDER (6.8%)

A beautiful Dry Cider from Ross On Wye.

With aromas of orchards yet a light and deceptive body that’s perfectly balanced and goes down all too easily. A fine cider drinkers cider!
