Update #25 - Preparing for Winter
Hi all, Happy Friday!
It’s been a while since our last update, apologies for that. Every few days it feels like things change once again, so we’ve been hard at work keeping on top of things.
Before I crack on with some updates a quick reminder that we still offer all our drinks to take away (including cask ales and ciders) so pop by even if you don’t plan on drinking in!
What’s Been Going On?
Since our last update we’ve had a load of new guidelines thrown at us and every step of the way we’ve made sure to meet these and ensure the safest environment possible for our patrons.
London recently moved to Tier-2 restrictions which means no mixing of households indoors, whilst the rule of 6 still applies outdoors. We’ve been rejigging the layout inside to accomodate the change from groups to mostly couples.
We’re trying to carry on as normally as we can, we’ve had some incredible beers on over the last few months and as the days are getting colder we’ve been able to put on some darker beers including recently having on a beautiful Coffee Porter from Elusive.
We’ve managed to get a cask of Never Bitter from Cloudwater Brewery which is currently on at time of writing. I remember reading a blog post of theirs back in 2018 (whilst the micropub was still just a dream) when they mentioned they were going to start producing cask again and I thought to myself we HAD to make sure we got some on when/if we opened, so it’s a pretty exciting moment on a personal level.
Looking Forward…
A lot of our forward thinking focus is towards the upcoming winter months and being best prepared for whatever is thrown at us.
In the next week or two expect to see both Mulled Wine and Mulled Cider available to drink in and take away. We’re working on the wine recipe at the moment and things are looking VERY promising.
Outside improvements are in the pipeline - including sidings to the awning and heaters. In a pre-covid world we would have looked at using blankets as a way for patrons to keep warm too, but for obvious hygeine reaasons we will be using just external heaters for this winter.
Keg Beer is something that’s always been part of our plan and is definitely near top of the list of things to get sorted before Christmas - so watch this space.
Finally, we’re looking into setting up a live online menu which will show all drinks available as well as prices (not just cask ale) at some point in the future, this will be especially useful with table service looking to continue for a few more months yet.
P.S. For those interested in what we have on tap - you can find out on our live beer board powered by the Real Ale Finder App:
