Weekly Update #7 - Est. 2020
First of all Happy New Year! Here’s to what hopefully will be a pretty great year which includes a certain micropub finally opening in Highams Park.
Unfortunately, we’re still yet to receive the decision from the council with regards to our sound insulation scheme, but hopefully we’ll be getting confirmation soon.
Whilst we wait on confirmation from the council though there’s a few things we can do around the premises in the meantime. The biggest job this week has been the gutting of the toilet (glamorous). It wasn’t in the greatest of conditions in the first place, so a decision was made to tear it all up and start from the ground up - rather than simply trying to spruce it up. The space is pretty limited, but we’re going to make the most of it - a decent toilet is always the sign of a good public house after all!
In my head I’ve split the building work into two distinct stages. Firstly, there’s the stage where everything is dismantled and cleared away so it’s a blank canvas, then there’s the second stage where everything is built back up again (and at the end of which, we open). Going by this concept, we’re at the very end of the first stage. The transition to phase two will be exciting, as from then on the space will begin taking form and the progress being made will be absolutely evident. This will also be the stage I’ll start sharing photos of the progress. The best place to see these will probably be on Instagram, so give us a follow on there if you aren’t already: http://instagram.com/thestagandlantern
Until next time - Cheers,
Rob
