Weekly Update #5 - Moving Forward
Somehow we’re under a week away from Christmas day which means this will be the last update before the holidays.
As you’re all probably aware this does indeed mean we won’t be opening this year. There was naivety on my part that once the Sound Insulation Design Document was sent to the council it would take them a week or two to respond, however it seems that I’ll be waiting until the New Year to get approval.
With the assumption we’d get approval from the council by now, there was hope we’d be able to get the sound insulation work done and installed over the holidays, giving us the start of January to renovate and decorate. This will have to be pushed back and where possible, I’ll find other work we can get done in the time being.
The first thing that comes to mind will be tidying up the exterior. As mentioned in a previous update, we’re going to be giving everything a new lick of paint and fixing some damaged sections of the frontage. Unfortunately, the amount of rain we’ve seen over the last couple of weeks has held that up, so here’s hoping we will have a couple of dry days soon!
One other curious activity I’ve taken to over the last month is (sometimes mentally, sometimes literally) measuring different bar heights when I’m out. This stems from knowing at some point soon I have to decide what our bar height will be. I also want the lip and groove wood panelling that will run along the walls to be the same height to create a nice balanced aesthetic.
So to sum up, January looks like it’ll be a rather hectic month!
Happy Holidays & Festive Cheers,
Rob
